by Laura Freeman | Reporter Boston Heights -- Village voters will see two renewal levies on the Nov. 8 ballot -- one for road repairs and one for fire department expenses. Issue 67 in Boston Heights is a 5-year, 2.75-mill property tax levy renewal for roads. They levy would continue to raise approximately $197,000 per year and will be used to asphalt roads in the village, according Mayor Bill Goncy. It will not increase taxes for residents of the village, which has a population of 1,300 according to the 2010 census. Engineers determine which roads are the worst, and those will be done first, Goncy said. Issue 68 in Boston Heights is a 3-year, 0.75-mill property tax levy to fund fire station operations. It will not increase taxes. The levy would continue to raise approximately $53,519 per year for staffing and training of the volunteer fire department personnel, according to Goncy.
