CANDIDATE NOT INFORMED

October 9, 2007

I watched the Cable 9 Q & A featuring the 2 candidates for Macedonia Mayor. One of the questions was, "How will you deal with storm water"? Mr. Pilato first stated that the city has expended $340,000 and has gotten "nowhere". The fact is $24,000 was spent for the study & council just approved $30,000 to begin sewer mapping. That's a far cry from $340,000! I take offense to the "nowhere" comment as this committee has done more for storm water than he knows. We have listened to 2 area watershed groups & recommended the city join them. A number of have attended seminars. We've visited residents & continue to contact ones who requested a visit.

He could have attended any 1 of 4 meetings to get the facts. In his lititure he states he will use the EPA mandate of 2003 to control storm water. Funny, the mandate says nothing about the quantity of storm water, but deals with the "quality" of storm water. Seeing as how storm water has been a hot topic of many campaigns, you would think he'd be better informed. In order to fix the problems we have to know were they are & how to fix them. The "bandaide" approach caused many of our current problems. The committee has identified the most critical problems. To say he will use the EPA to control these problems is a cop-out. If you don't care enough to get the facts don't use it as a campaign ploy!
