The Nordonia Hills Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is proud to announce the winners of the NHCOC Annual Awards:

2008 Small Town Hero Award -- Carol Lewis, American Industrial Transmission Inc.

2008 Small Business of the Year -- Crossroads Chiropractic Center; and

2008 Chamber Ambassador of the Year -- Shauna Kaminsky, Design Wizard.

If you would like to be a part of their special day, reserve your seat for the NHCOC Annual Awards Luncheon at Gambitta's Party Center May 8 at 11:30 a.m.

This annual event is sponsored by UHHS Bedford Medical Center. Program Chairperson Connie Perney is excited to announce that our speaker will be Rachel Torchia, President and Owner of Gateway Title. She will discuss entrepreneurialism, finding a niche and customer service being the backbone to her success.

State Rep. Brian Williams will officiate at the Installation of the 2008-09 Board of Directors.

The special prime rib lunch is $15 for members ($20 for non-members), salmon or chicken by request only. Delicious dessert cakes are being partially sponsored by Giant Eagle. Reserve your seat by calling 330-467-8956. The entire Nordonia Hills community is invited.

Start your summer fun with us at the Chamber's eighth annual "Friday Night Horseplay" barbecue at Northfield Park.

The event is scheduled for May 30.

A race sponsorship is $125 and includes your own horse race, your race name in the program, a free color photo of you with the winning horse, two buffet dinners, plus six beer tickets and two official racing tip sheets.

The all-you-can eat dinner buffet, served from 7 to 9 p.m. is only $30 and includes carved beef, honey-roasted chicken, pasta with sausage marinara, oven roasted red potatoes, sugar snap peas with roasted peppers, salad, soft drink, admission, tent seating, parking, and race program.

The dessert and coffee station will open at 9 p.m.

If your favorite horse isn't racing, try your luck with our 50/50 raffle and "Horse Plop Bingo." Discounts are available for groups of eight and for all returning sponsors. Attention runners, bikers, walkers and volunteers.

Thank you to Chamber President-Elect Eric Daniel, Thompson Hine LLP, for chairing the Nordonia Hills Duathlon & Family Walk, scheduled for June 7.

Individuals age 13 and over are encouraged to participate in this run, bike, then run again event.

The race includes a 2.5 mile run, followed by a 10 mile bike ride and finishes with a second 2.5 mile run. Families can sign up for the Family Walk and get up to four free T-shirts. The first 300 entrants will receive a T-shirt and all entrants will share after-race refreshments. Packet pick-up and race day registration begins at 7:15 a.m.

We, as a community of businesses, host this event. Many of us all ready show our support by volunteering and sponsoring this Duathlon. Let's go the next step and participate. For more information, contact Eric at 330-612-3234, or HMA Promotions at 216-752-5151.
