If the Northeast Ohio Conference Meet is any indication, then Nordonia's Andrew Davis and Alex Davis will be headed to the Division I regional meet at the end of this week.

That's because both performed extremely well at the NOC Meet May 15 and 17 at Twinsburg High School.

Overall, the Knights finished in third place with 86.5 points. Twinsburg captured first with 152.5 points, while Brush (102.5 points) was second.

Andrew Davis finished first in two individual events. They were the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.94 and the long jump with a leap of 21-feet-7.25.

In addition, Alex Davis claimed first place in the 110 high hurdles, recording a time of 15.18 seconds in the process.

Andrew Davis also registered a second-place finish, accomplishing the feat in the high jump with a height of 6 feet.

Alex Davis claimed second place, as well. He did so in the 300 intermediate hurdles, producing a time of 40.32.

For his accomplishments, Andrew Davis was named the MVP of the NOC Meet.

Meanwhile, Brian Vollmer finished in third place in two individual events for Nordonia: the high jump (6 feet) and the long jump (20-8). In addition, John Spooney was third in the 100 with a time of 11.43.

The Knights' 400 relay team crossed the finish line in third place (44.47). The members of that unit were Ryan Clark, Donnie Eatmon, Vollmer and Spooney.

The 800 relay squad finished third, as well. That unit, which contained Spooney, Vollmer, Clark and Andrew Davis, posted a time of 1:32.42.

Ryan Buck was fourth in the pole vault with a height of 11 feet.

According to Nordonia head coach Ron Gura, Buck, who's been out of action due to an injury, was cleared to compete May 12.

"We're happy to have him back," said Gura. "We know he can go a lot higher than 11 feet, which is where he was when he got hurt a month ago. It's too bad he wasn't healthy the whole time, because the conference champion only got 12 feet, and we know that Ryan is capable of that."

Nordonia's 3,200 relay team was also fourth, finishing with an effort of 8:52.2. Comprising that squad were Kevin Osborne, Anthony Stetka, Steve Wagner and Sal Delguidice.

Contributing the Knights' only fifth-place finish was Clark in the 100 with a time of 11.49.

Nordonia lost to both Twinsburg and Stow during the regular season, although the Knights were able to edge Brush. The Arcs enjoyed a measure of revenge at the NOC Meet.

"Brush scored a lot of points in the throwing events with the two guys they had," said Gura. "Obviously, we're happy with both Andrew Davis and Alex Davis. Andrew was voted the conference MVP. He's been my top scorer all season. He's a great athlete, and we're going to miss him next year. Alex won the 110 high hurdles and was second in the 300 hurdles. He got a slow start in the 300s and got out-leaned at the end. He just ran out of track."
