Funeral services were May 31 at St. Barnabas Catholic Church for Sagamore Hills resident Joseph M. Malafarina.
Mr. Malafarina, 53, died May 28, 2008, at Sagamore Hills Medical Center.
Mr. Malafarina was born May 1, 1955, in Cleveland to August and Elizabeth, both deceased.
He owned and operated McDonald's restaurants in Middleburg Heights and Berea. He started working at McDonald's when he was 15 and worked his way up to the position of operations manager for the company, which owned more than 20 restaurants. He purchased two stores when the owners of the company retired.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and Mountaineer. He was a member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church.
Mr. Malafarina was the husband of Barbara, nee Minichbauer, and the father of Nicole and Amy. He was the brother of Barbara, George (Janet), Gregory (Candace), and Monica Mullins.
Burial was at All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials in Mr. Malafarina's name be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 955 West St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland 44133.
