---- MICHAEL P. ELLIS ----
Sagamore Hills resident
A celebration of the life of Michael Ellis is planned for June 22 at his home, 8330 Crystal Creek Road in Sagamore Hills, starting at 3 p.m. The family invites all who knew and loved Mr. Ellis to attend.
Mr. Ellis, 49, died peacefully June 6, 2008, after a massive stroke, his second in six years.
Mr. Ellis was born in Cleveland to George and Patricia Ellis of Northfield. He grew up in the Nordonia Hills area, where he had a successful salon practice up until his first stroke. Despite the disability he suffered, he continued to work and maintain the rental properties he and his partner had acquired over the years.
Family members said Mr. Ellis kept a positive attitude and worked up to the day he had his second stroke. He always looked at the positive and put the negative behind him, focusing on the good things in his life, his family and a vast array of friends.
Mr. Ellis was the domestic partner and 22-year companion of Michael L. Null of Sagamore Hills.
He was the brother of Mark and Matthew of Macedonia, Michele O'Brien, and Melissa (Mark) Sangrik of Northfield. He was the uncle of Emerie Sangrik of Northfield, John O'Brien, Daniel O'Brien (Alison McGrady), and Marc Sangrik. He was great-uncle of Taylor O'Brien of Northfield, and was survived by "his women," Laura Nickschinski, Linda Nickschinski and Gayle Pascucci.
Following Mr. Ellis' wishes, there will be no funeral or calling hours, and his body has been cremated.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Akron Pride Center, 1501 Aster Ave., Akron 44301.
