Under a proposed new program, township residents would be able to join the Macedonia Family Recreation Center at a reduced cost, but only if the township is willing to subsidize it.
Chris Griffith, Rec Center membership and special programs coordinator, told the Board of Trustees Dec. 8 that under one scenario, township residents might only pay the same rate that city residents do, with the township paying the difference.
"We would work with whatever you propose," Griffith said.
Trustees didn't comment during Griffith's presentation, but Board Chairman Paul Buescher later told the News Leader it is too soon to decide if the township will create such a program.
"It's an interesting program, but we'd have to think about it," he said.
Griffith said Twinsburg Township and Walton Hills have both started their own programs, with about 20 individual or family memberships resulting for each community.
