Sagamore Hills -- Sagamore Hills incumbents Richard Barrett and Rose Mary Snell will have eight terms as Trustee between them, after voters picked them to return to office over challenger John Zaccardelli.

According to final, but unofficial results from the Summit County Board of Elections, Barrett and Snell earned 1,804 and 2,114 votes, respectively, versus 1,448 ballots cast for Zaccardelli.

Snell, 70, who will return for a fifth term in office, is a retired real estate agent. She serves on the Summit County Planning Commission, the county's solid waste authority board, is the township's representative to the Cuyahoga Valley Regional Council of Governments and a member of the Ohio Public Works Commission.

"Thank you to the residents for their support and confidence in my re-election," she said. "I will continue to ensure our community is safe, stable and secure."

Barrett, 69, who was seeking his third term, is a retired steel industry executive who now works as a self-employed consultant.

"I'm going to continue the [good fiscal] practices the Board has instituted," said Barrett.

Zaccardelli, 48, is partners with his brother in Blue Line Design, Inc., an architectural design and drafting firm founded by their father. He said he had wanted to bring "positive change" to township government.

"I am extremely honored to be a part of the selection process of Trustee of Sagamore Hills," said Zaccardelli. "I highly respect and admire Mr. Barrett and Mrs. Snell and congratulations to them both."
