Plan includes
three fee levels
The stormwater management plan being proposed Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District establishes a new stormwater utility fee that would be paid by all property owners within the district. The fee would be based on total surface area of a property that does not allow water to drain, such as driveways and parking lots.
Fees will be charged quarterly and the fees schedule includes yearly increases through 2014.
For residential parcels with less than 2,000 square feet of impervious surface area, the fee will range between $2.85 monthly through 2011 to $3.09 in 2014.
For residential properties with impervious surface areas between 2,000 and 4,000 square feet, the fees will range between $4.75 through 2011 and $5.15 in 2014.
For reesidential parcels with impervious surface areas of 4,000 or more square feet, the fee will range between $8.95 through 2011 to $9.27 in 2014.
Fees for individual units within a multi-unit residential building will range between $1.95 monthly through 2011 to $2.07 in 2014. Low-income seniors 65 and older may also be eligible for this rate.
The fee for commercial parcels will be calculated by dividing the total amount of impervious surface area by 3,000 square feet, rounding that number up and multiplying it by $4.75.
Failure to pay the fee could result in a cutoff of water or a lien being placed on the property.
