Local Band Invited to Tri-C High School Rock Off

Macedonia, OH January !0th, 2010: The 14th Annual Tri-C High School Rock Off has announced this year's line up and local band PhaylinX made the cut. Phaylinx is scheduled to perform on Friday, January 29th.
PhaylinX, a four-piece power metal band, has been performing locally for more than a year. Jimmy Washabaugh, a Nordonia Middle School student, is the band's lead guitarist and vocalist. "We are so grateful that we have the opportunity to play at The House of Blues." Bass player Adam Smith explains that the band is excited about the opportunity to play live. "A big part of the judging is based on what kind of crowd we bring to the show. We hope that everyone will come to the House of Blues on January 29th." St. Ignatius students Sam Damico and Michael Costello complete the band, playing drums and guitar respectively. "We have been working really hard to be able to give the crowd a good show. We also looking forward to playing with the other bands that we are competing with." said Costello.
To attend the Rock Off, contact a participating band to get your tickets, which cost $8. A limited number of tickets will be sold through the House of Blues box office and TicketMaster. If supplies last tickets will be available at House of Blues on the performance date.
The Rock Off began with the first of six semifinals rounds on Friday, January 8th with 68 bands competing for a spot in the final exam. Industry judges will decide which 18 bands are selected for the final exam. All finalists record an original song that will be available on the Rock Off Website: www.clevealnd.com/rockoff. The grand prize includes cash, recording time, gift certificates and a donation to the band's high school band fund. The winning band will also have the opportunity to open for a national act.
