The Nordonia High School boys bowling team is still in the hunt for the Northeast Ohio Conference South Division championship.

The Knights won two more division matches recently, while the girls squad split a pair.

The boys downed Twinsburg by the score of 2,543-2,246 at home Jan. 19. Leading the way for Nordonia was sophomore Travis Johnson, who rolled a high game of 255.

In addition, sophomore Robbie McGregor posted a 235 and senior Bryce Postolka contributed a 215.

The Knights captured the first regular game by the score of 1,035-787. Twinsburg claimed the second regular game by a 940-891 margin.

However, Nordonia performed well in the Baker Games, producing scores of 209, 277 and 141.

"We had a really good Baker run," said Nordonia head coach Bob Glontz, "although that last one was kind of weak. It still made for good TV, though."

The Twinsburg match was broadcast by Cable Television 9.

Those watching on TV also saw the Nordonia girls beat Twinsburg by just a single pin 1,977-1,976.

The Knights won the first regular game, 763-733, before falling in the second game by the score of 843-626.

Then Nordonia was able to catch the Tigers in the Baker Games, posting a line of 166-220-202.

Pacing the Knights to victory was senior Lauren Krivos. She had the high game with a 188.

Up next for Nordonia was Hudson at home Jan. 21. The boys beat the Explorers by the score of 2,604-2,331.

The Knights prevailed in the first regular game by a 1,018-855 tally, and then the two teams tied in the second game, 952-952.

Nordonia put together another string of solid Baker Games, posting scores of 223, 224 and 187.

One again, Johnson led the way, this time with a 257.

"He's an upcoming star," Glontz said of Johnson. "He's only a sophomore. He just needs a little more training."

Postolka was another major contributor for the Knights. He rolled games of 234 and 205.

Unfortunately, the Nordonia girls fell to defeat against Hudson, as the Explorers prevailed by the score of 2,129-2,059.

The Knights edged Hudson in the first regular game (775-773), although the Explorers claimed the second game (864-766).

Nordonia's scores in the Baker Games were 178, 182 and 158.

At the forefront of the Knights' attack were senior Jackie Moore and sophomore Rachel Novak. Moore rolled a 189, while Novak had a 197.

The Nordonia boys now sport records of 9-3 overall and 9-3 within the division. The girls, meanwhile, are 6-6 and 6-6.

The boys are tied with Stow for first place in the division, but the Knights trail the Bulldogs in terms of overall pins.

On Jan. 26, Nordonia was set to clash with Cuyahoga Falls at Roseland Lanes. On Jan. 29, the Knights are slated to battle Brunswick on the road.

"It's getting down to crunch time," said Glontz. "The boys have to win out. That's the only chance we have of winning the division championship."
