Well the athletic facilities levy failed again and those that supported it now wonder what is next. Those that did not support it are undoubtedly basking in the fact that a majority of voters took their side. But stop to think a bit here.
There were approximately 120,000 votes cast in Summit County for the Democratic candidates and roughly 38,000 votes for Republican candidates. I don't know how many in the Nordonia Hills area voted for these candidates but the likelihood that these candidates will raise taxes is high according to several news sources.
Will you vote for a politician that will raise taxes? Summit County also passed issue 8 which raised our county sales tax by .25%. Again, people voted to RAISE taxes. Issue 8 is a countywide issue that may have little effect on the Nordonia Hills area. How many Nordonia Hills residents voted for that issue? Issue 3 would have kept every penny in our school district and every penny would have benefited this community and the people in it. If you voted against this issue because you did not want another tax then I hope you are consistent with all your votes. Don't vote for politicians that will raise taxes. Don't vote for any more Metroparks levies, library levies, Metro Transit levies, MRDD levies and so on. Ron Paul should have all your votes because he is the only politician that has never voted to raise taxes.
Lastly said, it would be hard to find a tax anywhere any time that will be more beneficial to you as a Nordonia Hills resident than issue 3 would have been. It was for a defined purpose and a defined timeframe. Now we move on and find another way to fund this project. Make no mistake, it will get built and all will be forgotten, or will it??
