Junior Achievement "Volunteer Hall of Fame" AwardApril 4, 2008
Gregory D. Hostelley, CPA, Receives Junior Achievement "Volunteer Hall of Fame" Award Junior Achievement of Akron Area (JA) has recognized Gregory D. Hostelley, Managing Director of Inner Circle Advisors, LLC, as its "2008 Hall of Fame Middle School Volunteer of the Year," during a recent awards assembly held at St. Barnabas School in Northfield. Mr. Hostelley has been a positive role model for more than 600 students during his 8 years with Junior Achievement's Enterprise in Action program at St. Barnabas School. Regarding this achievement, Mr. Hostelley commented, "This award means a great deal to me. I am an alumnus of the Junior Achievement program myself, and today the firm I later started is celebrating its 25th anniversary. I understand first hand how this program can not only be educational, but also inspirational, helping young people learn how to navigate the free enterprise system." Greg is a champion of the free enterprise system, assisting the eighth grade students he mentors to prepare their own business plans during the course of their time together. Every student he works with has received one of his business cards with a promise that he would consider it a privilege to provide his professional services to assist them if they decide to put their plan into action and go into business for themselves. He notes, "Over the years, Inner Circle Advisors has evolved to be a central source of resources and education for owner-managed businesses. Because education and training have the power to perpetuate success long after the lessons are learned, it's essential to provide business literacy not only to today's entrepreneurs, but also to those of tomorrow. I hope to see these students become successful business people, starting out the same way as did many of the thriving small and mid-market businesses we serve today." Nancy Muir, the eighth grade teacher who has worked closely with Mr. Hostelley, comments that "Mr. Hostelley exemplifies the core values of Junior Achievement: belief in the potential of young people, commitment to the principles of capitalism, passion for promoting entrepreneurship, and honesty, integrity, and excellence in doing so." "We are fortunate to have such a dedicated volunteer to share his time with our students," said Denice Schafer, Senior District Director of JA - Akron Area, Inc.. "Junior Achievement's Enterprise in Action program includes eight lessons which describe the principal characteristics of the U.S. economic system, social responsibility, and role of government. The leadership, guidance and time that volunteers like Greg provide to our operation is invaluable." During the 2007-08 school year JA impacted more than 21,000 local students throughout Summit, Portage, Medina, Wayne, Holmes and Coshocton counties. JA provides students in grades K-12 the opportunity to explore their career options and gain valuable skills such as critical thinking, decision making, and problem solving. JA's hands-on programs are focused on economics and the free enterprise system, helping students to experience their potential and succeed in a global economy.
