$756,000,000,000.00. (Just in case anyone was wondering what 756 Billion Dollars looks like.)
I have sat by and watched some pretty despicable things happen in our country through my lifetime, but this has me really steamed. Stimulus Bill Stimulus for who? Let's take a look at a few of the prime examples of this:
1) a $2 billion handout to the not-ready-for-prime-time "FutureGen' near-zero-emission power plant in Matoon, Illinois that has been called "prohibitively expensive' by the Washington Post and is not supported by scientists at MIT," What a shock it is located in Illinois.
2) A $246 million tax break for Hollywood movie producers to buy motion picture film
3) $448 million for constructing the Dept. of Homeland Security headquarters
4) $248 million for furniture at the new Dept. of Homeland Security headquarters
5) $600 million to buy hybrid vehicles for federal employees
And these are just a few. The list is staggering. Between this and all of the " Bail Out Funds", I am surprised that there wasn't funds allocated to build a new " Super Duper" printing machine for the US Mint.
Bail out for what used to be the Big Three. Does this mean that they will sell all of the corporate jets and fly coach? Does this mean they may have to fire the maid and butler? Could it be that the unions will actually give up some of the benefits and pay to save the companies? I have owned and operated a company for over twenty years and there were times when we ate a lot of hot dogs and pasta and put duct tape on things that were broken to save a buck. Funny, the government didn't offer me any money if I wasn't smart enough to change my way of doing business to stay a float.
All I can say is, " You get what you vote for". That balance that kept the Liberal spending in check is now gone. It proves once again, that the Republicans can't possible steal as much as the Democrats can spend.
I have an idea. Let's do some math. There are approximately 305 Million people legally in the U.S. Let's say that 75% of them are over 18 years of age. That would be Roughly 225 Million. Of those, let's just say that 10% are earning $200,000.00 per year. That would leave maybe 200 million. If you just gave them 1 million dollars each, you would save the tax payers a few bucks. Maybe that is too much. How about of that? $500,000.00 each? Now how in the world would this help our economy? All the foreclosed houses would most likely be paid for., homeless people may be able to start a new life, people who could not afford to go to college or buy a new car may just find a way to make it possible with the money. I guess this is way too simple math for Washington. What about all of the special interest groups that wouldn't get a part of the Billions?
