Mother/Daughter dance has Hollywood theme

Macedonia, Ohio, March 13, 2009 " Girl Scouts of North East Ohio (GSNEO) Troop 1223 of Nordonia Hills is holding its annual Mother/Daughter Dance on Friday, April 3, 2009 from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. at St. Barnabas in Northfield Center.

This year the theme is "Walk the Red Carpet with the Stars!" Girl Scouts are escorted to the dance by their mother or female guardian. Unlike other Girl Scout events, the girls will leave their green sashes and vests at home, and dress up in dazzling costumes and pretty dresses! (You might even see stars like Hannah Montana or Taylor Swift!)

Troop 1223 is in the process of planning a trip to Savannah, Ga. " the birthplace of Girl Scout founder Juliette Gordon Low. They want to use the Hollywood-themed dance as an opportunity to earn money to pay for their trip. The Girl Scout troop will be traveling to Georgia in June.
The Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace"a Girl Scout national center in Savannah, Georgia"has something to offer everyone. It is the birthplace of Juliette Gordon Low, founder of Girl Scouts of the USA, who was affectionately known by her family and friends as "Daisy."
Girl Scout troops travel from across the United States year-round to take part in programs and learn more about the organization's remarkable founder. Fun programs and hands-on activities bridge the gap between Daisy's day and the present and introduce visitors to the early years of Girl Scouting.
The Girl Scouts of North East Ohio is the premier organization for leadership development for girls. GSNEO serves 40,000 girls and 14,000 adult volunteer members throughout an 18 county-wide region in the state of Ohio, including Medina, Portage, and Summit counties; Cuyahoga, Geauga, and Lake counties; Carroll, Stark and Tuscarawas counties; Ashtabula, Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties; Erie, Huron, Lorain, Sandusky and Seneca counties.

Since its founding in 1912, Girl Scouts has provided more than 50 million girls with time-honored programs that engage them with their communities; enhance self-esteem; increase financial literacy and interest in math, science and technology; encourage good health and nutrition and build leadership skills necessary for them to move confidently into their futures. Today, Girl Scouts is the #1 girl organization in the world, with 3.7 million members throughout the United States, including U.S. territories, and in more than 90 countries through USA Girl Scouts Overseas.
