Northfield, OH (May 1, 2009)"Nordonia Middle School Parents - and families throughout Nordonia Hills City School District - are joining thousands of communities across the country in celebrating PTA Teacher Appreciation Week May 3"9.

The special week honors the dedicated men and women who lend their passion and skills to educating children. The Middle School's events are part of a national effort to call attention to the outstanding contributions teachers make to individuals and communities.

"All of us know exceptional teachers. Taking a moment to say "thank you' is an important way to support the good work being done in our schools," said Karen Gedeon, President of the Middle School PTSA.

The PTSA is encouraging all members of the community to say "thank you" this week. A short note, a card made by a student, an e-mail, or a quick phone call to a teacher are all great ways to share an attitude of gratitude.

Middle School families are planning several activities throughout the week to honor teachers, including an appreciation lunch on Tuesday, May 5th. Area cooks or businessess interested in helping with that luncheon should contact Melanie Smith at 330-468-8739.

PTA expanded on Eleanor Roosevelt's idea of National Teacher Day, established in 1953, and dedicated a whole week to celebrate the accomplishments of educators.
