He was known best as Larry to friends and loved ones.

Lawrence S. Cabala Sr.

In 1958 Larry and his wife Barbara moved to Northfield Center where they settled down to raise their family. He made his living as a Tile Setter in the Carpenters Local 509 Union and was also a Life member of the VFW Post 6768. Gardening was his passion and as the years went on his garden transformed from a large bed in the back field to numerous large raised planters around his greenhouse. Everyone enjoyed the fruits of his labor, to him sharing the fruit was the best part! Not only did he have a deep love for the land but for animals as well. There were many pets over the years and his most recent rescues from the Humane society, Annabell and Snappy, never left his side.

Larry was a handy carpenter with a unique sense of humor always up for a new project or construction challenge. You could always find him tinkering with something. Whether it was to build something from scratch or fix anything that didn't work, his motto was, 'If man made it, man can fix it'. He could always be counted on to see a project to completion and anyone who knew him would be able to recall a clever joke or story Larry told them throughout his life, his sense of humor was unforgettable. He would string along his grandchildren into imaginative tales just waiting to see that look on their face of the realization that it was all made up. Larry died peacefully Friday, August 12, 2016 surrounded by his family.

An era has ended and we will all have a special memory of Larry to hold dear in our hearts because there won't be another.
