Jerry Michael Cleland

Jerry taught his children that to see the Lord, one must live simply, seek silence and quiet their spirit, remain free of sin and serve others. His life bore witness to these principles as he led his family and others with quiet strength, attended to the sick and suffering, and ministered to us all. Jerry was a happy warrior.

Born in Terre Haute, Indiana Jerry lived his childhood in Akron, DeWitt (NY), and Bay Village. He graduated from Bay High, The University of Akron, Kent State University (where he played basketball), and the University of North Carolina. Jerry served as a nurse and administrator for several institutions including Akron City Hospital. Jerry was involved in apostolic Catholic ministry, and served as the president of Catholic Men’s Fellowship of Northeast Ohio. Jerry shared his love of sport with his children and grandchildren and coached CYO basketball coach for several years.

Jerry and Cris loved each other completely, and they raised their children to love and serve the Lord.
