With the Dallas
tragedy in the news, we all need to remember what an important (and tough) job our police force has. There is a saying that people talk bad about lawyers, but when you are in trouble, you're looking for one. Same may be said about the police.
During the storm we just had, my wife and I woke up to the rattling of our windows due to the wind. I looked outside thinking maybe a tornado.
At the moment I looked, I saw a large tree limb was on the road just over the crest, which is a real hazard for a car.
A possibility for an accident was very real.
We called the police to report it (around midnight ). There was an officer at the site within 10 minutes after our call. He left his lights on to warn cars and started cleaning up.
When I saw him pulling at the limb (25' long) I started to get dressed. By the time I had gathered my clothes, he had the limb off the road and had left. I was back in bed with the knowledge the road was safe.
I don't know who the officer was but he did a great job, the city responded quickly to our call and I was very impressed with how it was handled.
We are indeed fortunate to have a police depart that works 24/7 to protect the community we live in.
