Letter: Says meeting to return Macedonia tax levy to ballot 'was a joke'

My name is

Chuck Loparo AKA Watchdog. I have lived here in Macedonia for 44 years. In that time I have missed only two Council meetings.

The special meeting held on Aug. 5, 2016, to put back the failed tax levy on the November ballot was a joke. Since it was a special meeting, it will not be televised.

Watching the members on Council last night, the way they acted, was a joke. Each one had a different reason for putting the tax levy on the November ballot. Now they are wanting to put an outdoor area for swimming at the rec center. They want this tax money for roads and storm water.

If the ballot reads "use for only roads and storm water", that can be used for it only. If it goes into the general fund, it can be spent on anything.

If this issue ends up on the November ballot, please vote no. By calling for a special election on Aug. 5, it cost the city, your dollars, $15,000.

Macedonians, wake up.

Charles Loparo,

Macedonia
