Macedonia girl earns Girl Scout Gold Award

Macedonia resident Caitlin Fogg, a graduate of Western Reserve Academy, has been a Girl Scout for 13 years. She has earned the Girl Scout Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards. For her Gold Award project, Caitlin focused on empowering women throughout Northeast Ohio.

State Rep. Kristina Roegner to hold office hours

State Representative Kristina Roegner (R-Hudson) will hold district office hours Aug. 18 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library, 3512 Darrow Road, Stow. No appointment is necessary and everyone is encouraged to participate.

Bridge, pinochle groups at YMCA

The YMCA's Nordonia Card Groups are starting sign-ups for the 2017-18 season. There are four groups to choose from: Ladies Bridge, Couples Bridge, Ladies Pinochle, and Couples Pinochle. The season runs from September through April with a banquet in May.

Run for the Hills race results announced

More than 80 runners from all around Ohio showed up June 17 for the Run for the Hills certified 5K race, benefiting the Longwood Branch YMCA. But it was a 22-year-old from Holland, Mich. who took home the first place honors. Connor Reavy clocked a time of 18:10.

Wrestlers hosting golf fundraiser Nordonia Knights Wrestling's "Pin for the Win" golf outing fundraiser is set for Sept. 9 at the Astorhurst Country Club, beginning at 9 a.m. The cost is $360 per foursome, which includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Soccer Registration Fall recreational soccer registration is ongoing through Aug. 7. The recreational league play is for boys and girls ages 6 to 15. Practices will start mid-August and end in October. Most games will be played on Saturdays starting in September.

Nordonia Hills City Schools will be hosting a Good Beginnings Fair Aug. 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Ledgeview Elementary Gymnasium. This free public event is for families with children newborn to age 5 and expectant mothers.

Free document shredding July 8 in city

A document shredding and recycling event will be July 8 at Macedonia City Hall, 9691 Valley View Road from 9 a.m. to noon. The event is free to Summit County residents and businesses. There is a limit of 10 file boxes or 10 paper shopping bags per vehicle.
