Walsh Jesuit rising senior Nate Reich has decided to continue his academic and baseball careers for John Carroll University in University Heights.
Reich, an infielder for the Warriors, helped lead the team to their fourth straight North Coast League Championship, a District championship win, and a 26-4 record in 2015.
The Warriors earned the No. 2 ranking in the state last year by Prep Baseball Report. Reich helped lead Walsh to its 10th overall national ranking, its second consecutive Ohio Jesuit Tournament Championship and a Division I district runner-up finish as the team posted a 20-8 record during the spring.
"The thing that immediately stands out about Nate is his remarkable skill defensively," Walsh head baseball coach Chris Kaczmar said. "He's a player that I always enjoyed stopping for long moments just to watch take infield because of his high level of skill.
"He also was one of our most improved overall players and had a remarkable run when it counted the most. While he is exceptional on defense, it is outside the lines where we will miss him the most.
"He is a young man of character that grew to be a close friend and will be deeply missed. We are extremely excited that he will continue his career in a program with coach [Marc] Thibeault at JCU."
Reich, who plans to major in business, is the son of Darin and Denise Reich of Sagamore Hills.
